To Shop in Lisbon

As in any city, shopping is plentiful in Lisbon. Just under the triumphal arch, there is a lively pedestrian only area along Rua Augusta. This is a very popular spot for window shopping and there are many big brand and souvenir shops along the way. Rua do Carmo and Rua Garret are stately, old streets lined with luxury shops. It is still possible to find custom fitted leather glove shops and hat boutiques with artisans hard at work. Vellas Loreto in Chiado has been selling handmade candles since 1789!

Some of the lesser known shopping experiences for tourists in Lisbon are the weekly markets. There is a fabulous flea market near the Sao Vincente de Fora church as well as the local favorite, LX Market on Sundays.
