There are a lot of "made in Portugal" shops, aimed at tourists around the monastery. A Loja do Caminho is a small shop with a very helpful that tell great stories about the local wares. There is also a gift shop in the monastery that sells souvenirs that are a bit more expensive and handcrafted. There are a number of ceramic shops in the town and some even have workshops where you may see artists working hard at their craft.
