Casa Da Cerca - 2 bedroom historic house, sleeps 5, on castle wall

One hundred years ago this house used to belong to a very wealthy and locally known landlord from a very traditional family. All properties from this family were painted in pink!

Until today this is the only house allowed to be painted in pink in Óbidos! All other properties are painted in white according to the local rules that are now in place.

The house 'Casa Da Cerca' used to be the home for the Lord's mistress. He visited his lover regularly and arrived by horse from his family house which was a nearby farm (Quinta das Janelas). To avoid been seen by the local people he ordered his employees to build a small path up the hill to the house, away from the main street. That path still exists today, covered with cobblestones. You can see it finishing at the View point (Belvedere) by the house. At that time the ground floor of the house was for the animals and people would live upstairs.

The property retains a romantic charm with its glowing pink walls that contrast with the white buildings that surround it.

The property has 2 bedrooms and a double sofa bed in the lounge so it can sleep 5 guests (please be aware that the sofa-bed can sleep comfortably 2 children, however it might not be suitable for 2 adults). The 2 bedrooms have 3 single beds in total and both are en-suite. One of the en-suites has a bath with shower over, WC and basin and the other has a shower cubical, WC and basin. There is an additional bathroom on the ground floor with shower cubical.

The sunny and spacious living room has a private terrace outside for dining and sun bathing on the sun loungers. There is a BBQ and umbrella for guests use.

Inside there are two comfortable sofas and a television, an extendable dining table for up to 8 people and a contemporary kitchen. Should you need it there are also 3 oil filled radiators.

There is free parking on the street.

Please note that every day between 9 pm and 10 pm the gardener comes to the property to water the garden bed.
