House of Gaeiras
This is your first stop on this Wine Tour. The House of Gaeiras, located at Óbidos was founded in the 18th century, and is an iconic building for the wine history it has. The property still is the brand for a limited production level of wine from grapes in the local area. The house is not open to the public but the owners have agreed to allow us access to the grounds from which to try a few of their wines in beautiful surroundings. The House of Gaeiras was the first producer to bottle quality wines in this region.
Quinta do Gradil
This is your next and final stop on the Wine Tour. You'll receive a full tour of the Vineyard followed by lunch at the Quinta. You will have a tasting of wines at the Quinta before your 3 course lunch and more wine will also be provided with your lunch. This Estate belonged to the family of the Marquis of Pombal and is steeped in history dating back to the 15th century. The building facade is a significant architectural landmark. The historical buildings include a Pombaline palace, a chapel, a Mill, a granary, a stone aqueduct, a "mãe de água" or water house, a water tank and the cellar.
