To Do in Foz Do Arelho
Go to Foz do Arelho for a day at the beach. The beach is varied and offers something for everyone. Take a moment on the hill before you descend to the boardwalk to get a sense for the magnificent geography of this special coastline. You can watch the tides move in and out of the lagoon in a way that is unique in the world. For a day of sunbathing and perhaps a leisurely kayak or stand up paddleboard rental, the Obidos Lagoon or Lagoa de Obidos side is the place to park your umbrella. On the weekends there are often volleyball and football nets set up and plenty of people-watching to pass the time. On the Atlantic side, the currents are strong and the surf is big. It is a great place for seasoned surfers and windsurfers to test their limits while fisherman dot the rocky coast as far as the eye can see. Whatever you do, don't pack up before sunset. Find a dune to shelter you from the wind and you will be rewarded.
