This part of Portugal is renowned for some key tourist attractions including a pentagonal tower built by the Templars; it is a unique example of its kind in Portugal. The Parish church of Dornes is the oldest Marian shrine in Portugal.
Christ convent and the Almoural castle situated in the middle of the Tagus river are other significant Templar monuments nearby.
