This is a fabulous and unique 3 story townhouse in an enviable position within Sao Martinho, benefiting from sea views and a shared tennis court.

The property has an elevated position to the top right corner of the Sao Martinho bay, just 150 metres from the bay itself where you will find the very best of the Sao Martinho restaurants.

 

The house is surrounded by outdoor private space to enjoy the sunshine all day long if you wanted to. The owner has placed a variety of outdoor furniture including sun loungers on the two large balconies so you can be outside as much as you want. From there you can enjoy the sea views of the Sao Martinho Do Porto bay. There is a BBQ for outdoor cooking too.  Plus if you want to stay outside into the evening, the owner has provided an outdoor heater for your use. 

 

The house has 3 bedrooms sleeping 6 people and a baby. The bedrooms comprise a double room, a bunk bed room with an additional pull out bed underneath (sleeping 3 in that room) and then a single bedroom with a day bed. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge for 2 people and a travel cot for a baby. Should you need it the owner have also provided fans for the rooms. 

 

There are 3 bathrooms, 1 of which is en-suite to the master bedroom. They comprise of two shower rooms with WC and the en-suite with bath and shower over + WC. One of the shower rooms is on the ground floor. 

 

The lounge has been arranged for comfort and there is a TV with cable and Satellite TV with DVD player. There are also books, games and DVDs you can use.  There is also free Wi-Fi for your use and there is a speaker that can be used for your phone to play music through. 

 

There is a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook at home, including a dish washer to make things a little easier. 

 

For your car there is a private driveway for the property so you don't need to worry about parking. 

 

Unusually for a house like this, it is also part of a complex, meaning it benefits from the use of a communal tennis court. Feel free to use that whenever you want. The owner has left rackets for your use.

How to get there

By plane

 

We recommend international travellers fly into Lisbon airport. A number of airlines (including budget airlines) fly direct to Lisbon from all major European destinations. You can find and compare flight prices at http://www.skyscanner.net or download their app for your android or apple device. Alternatively you can fly to Oporto (2.5 hour drive) or Faro (3.5 hour drive).

 

By Road from Lisbon 

 

Sao Martinho do Porto is an easy 1 hour drive from the airport on the A8. Taxis and transfers are available (around € 75-100), as well as a number of car hire options. We will provide detailed directions for your car journey.  

 

By train from UK to Lisbon

 

For Lisbon you can take the 10:23am Eurostar from London to Paris and then the 15:50 TGV service to Irún on the Spanish border. Then connect with the 22:00 overnight Sud Express to Lisbon which arrives at 11:03am the following day. The cheapest return fare is about £209 and can be booked through Spanish Rail (020 7725 7063). From Lisbon to Sao Martinho do Porto by public transport

 

Coaches to Sao Martinho do Porto run several times a day from Lisbon’s Sete Rios coach terminal and the journey time is around 90 minutes. The coach station is a short taxi ride away from the airport (around € 15). Coach information and ticket sales are available at www.rede-expressos.pt

 

By boat from UK to Santander

 

Santander is 880km (7.5 hour drive) away from Sao Martinho do Porto on the Northern coast of Spain. It is served by 8 weekly crossings from the UK ports of Plymouth, Portsmouth and Poole. About the area

Retaining its Portuguese charm and character, Sao Martinho do Porto is a remarkably picturesque seaside town. The town is built around the sheltered bay that provides for safe bathing away from the strong Atlantic currents. The bay also benefits from warmer waters thanks to to its sheltered location. There are life guards on the beach during the summer and the beach is cleaned most days showing off its beautiful iridescent silver sand which is where the area gets its name. Surrounding the bay there are numerous cafes and restaurants where the majority of the food on offer is typical Portuguese (superb seafood) though there is also a very good Italian & also a Swiss restaurant along the front of the bay too. In the surrounding area a number of excellent golf courses have been built, and more are planned.


Sao Martinho do Porto enjoys an idyllic climate that tends not to reach oppressive extremes of hot or cold. Daytime temperatures mid-summer tend to range between 26ºC and 34ºC. Mid-winter daytime temperatures typically range between 14ºC and 18ºC.


Within the vicinity of Sao Martinho is the beautiful historic town Obidos (approximately 15-20 min drive) and the Obidos lagoon. Figueira da Foz is located about 10 min drive from Sao Martinho, it overlooks the Obidos lagoon (the largest lagoon in Europe) and similarly to Sao Martinho it provides safe bathing away. Sao Martinho's neighbouring town is called Nazare, it is a typical Portuguese seaside town which offers a good number of cafes, bars and excellent restaurants.
