Salir Do Porto is a peaceful village at the other side of the bay to Sao Martinho Do Porto, therefore overlooking Sao Martinho. It benefits from a sheltered position in front of the large sand dunes that form part of the bay and therefore the calmest and warmest waters for this stretch of the Silver Coast.
In Salir Do Porto there are a handful of restaurants and bars that are very good (including a restaurant which only sells great chicken!) but if you want more choice of restaurants and bars you just need to walk along to Sao Martinho Do Porto along the wooden walkway on the beach taking about 30 minutes.
Locals in Salir and from surrounding areas make the most of a natural mineral water spring that flows from the rocks at the end of the bay and a stone wall and fountain has been built so you can take your water bottles here to get the very best mineral water for free. Locals also say it has healing powers so many use the water to bathe in too.
Also just into the forests behind Salir (past the train line) there are two large and very good restaurants. One has outdoor dining and specialises in suckling pig and the other has an array of dishes at extremely competitive prices (the dishes are huge so go easy on ordering). Here you can enjoy a great bottle of Vinho Verde for only 4 Euros. The forest atmosphere makes for a great dining experience.
It you want to be close to the beach but also in a quiet place then Salir is the right choice for you.
Given the location of Salir Do Porto it suits those wanting to relax on a beach as well as those wanting to soak up some of the wide ranging cultural heritage of the Silver Coast.
